Chili Cook-Off

We are looking forward to the Chili Cook-off next week; staff and elders families are planning on entering the contest.  I plan on entering my mother-in-law’s recipe in hopes of winning one of the prizes. Quality of Life is planning on making aprons for the winning chili cooks.  Come and help us celebrate with a great hearty bowl of homemade chili!

Eden Alternative Training for Department Heads

We have completed our Eden Alternative training for our Department Heads. The Eden Alternative is an international not-for-profit organization based on the core belief that aging is a continued stage of growth and development, rather than a period of decline. The Eden Alternative’s principle-based philosophy is a powerful tool that guides organizations through the journey of culture change. We will continue our staff education for stakeholders throughout this month.

We are so excited about this culture change journey with Eden and invite you to come and see what we have in store for our staff and elders!

The Eden Alternative

We have completed many in-services on the Eden Alternative with the stakeholders.  We are still planning on conducting more, so that all staff have the knowledge of the purpose of Eden.  If you would like more information on what we at SHC of North Florida are embarking on, please feel free to call the facility, or you can look on-line at http://www.edenalt.org/.

National Nursing Home Week

We will be celebrating National Nursing Home Week next week with our staff and elders.  Please come by and enjoy our festivities.

Monday, we will have our bird house kickoff, play the Price is Right, and have a popcorn snack at 2:00pm sponsored by CareSouth.

Tuesday, we will have a scavenger hunt with staff and elders, an evening pizza party, and a ice cream blizzard snack at 2:00pm with Gentiva Home Health.

Wednesday, we will be playing a dart game with staff and elders and have a cotton candy snack at 2:00pm with Amedysis Homehealth.

Thursday, we will play Fear Factor with staff and elders, we will have a water day, and have cupcake snack at 2:00pm with Hospice of the Emerald Coast.

Friday, we will play “Let’s Make a Deal” with staff and elders, have our grill out day with Doug, casual dress day, bird house judging, and chocolate fountain snack with Covenant Hospice at 2:00pm.
