Late lies the wintry sun a-bed,
A frosty, fiery sleepy-head;
Blinks but an hour or two; and then,
A blood-red orange, sets again.
Before the stars have left the skies,
At morning in the dark I rise;
And shivering in my nakedness,
By the cold candle, bathe and dress.

God, Our Father, the Father of the Greatest Family of all the heavens and earth and of all there is. We thank you for this opportunity to gather together in one another’s company as one universal family, but even as individual families. We thank you for the light you bring to this gathering. The Light of Jesus shines on each one as we recognize he is the husband and we are His bride, a part of the family of Thee.
Please grant us the vision to see the highest in one another, and grant us the opportunity to continue to be there for each other in good times, as well as not-so-great-times.
Give us strength and fortitude to ride the tides of change, and empower us always to be nurturing and loving with one another. Open our spiritual eyes that we may see one another for who we truly are… and love one other in the same spirit.
May sadness, disappointment and anger be minimal or removed from our lives; may happiness, positive thoughts and good experiences together be bountiful and overflowing. May we always cope, and hope, with each other… with tender grace and ever increasing mercy.
We thank thee for this delicious dinner, prepared with hands of love which you formed and created. Allow us to realize that as we are being fed, we must feed the hungry, the spiritual malnourished. May all consumed here tonight fill us with health and well-being, and may we be consumed by your glory and honor and praise which is bestowed on all those who and trust in thee and live for thee. Help us to live each moment as though we are in your presence. Let our lives be a life song for thee. For the wonderful family of Signature Healthcare and all those involved, we pray this in our wonderful Eternal Father’s name. Amen.

Autumn in the Garden by Henry Van Dyke
When the frosty kiss of Autumn in the dark
Makes its mark
On the flowers, and the misty morning grieves
Over fallen leaves;
Then my olden garden, where the golden soil
Through the toil
Of a hundred years is mellow, rich, and deep,
Whispers in its sleep.
‘Mid the crumpled beds of marigold and phlox,
Where the box
Borders with its glossy green the ancient walks,
There’s a voice that talks
Of the human hopes that bloomed and withered here
Year by year,–
Dreams of joy, that brightened all the labouring hours,
Fading as the flowers.
Yet the whispered story does not deepen grief;
But relief
For the loneliness of sorrow seems to flow
From the Long-Ago,
When I think of other lives that learned, like mine,
To resign,
And remember that the sadness of the fall
Comes alike to all.
What regrets, what longings for the lost were theirs!
And what prayers
For the silent strength that nerves us to endure
Things we cannot cure!
Pacing up and down the garden where they paced,
I have traced
All their well-worn paths of patience, till I find
Comfort in my mind.
Faint and far away their ancient griefs appear:
Yet how near
Is the tender voice, the careworn, kindly face,
Of the human race!
Let us walk together in the garden, dearest heart,
Not apart!
They who know the sorrows other lives have known
Never walk alone
