The facility was presented with a special plaque “In Loving Memory of Jeanette Craft Barber” by the Barber and Craft family to offer their sincere gratitude for the loving care that we provided. She was a very outgoing resident who always had a smile on her face.  Ms. Barber was a resident from January 7, 2011 until April 11, 2012. Ms. Barber is dearly missed.

Stroke

  • Stroke symptoms tend to be sudden and happen without any warning. These symptoms include a painful sensation that rapidly progresses to a numb feeling in one side of the body, a severe headache that comes on suddenly, a weakened feeling in the muscles on one side of the body, difficulty in speaking and seeing, a total loss of balance that results in an inability to walk and a sudden strong feeling of confusion and anxiety.
  • Stroke is the third-highest cause of death and one of the top reasons for prolonged physical disability. This underscores the importance of getting regular physical examinations, especially if you have high blood pressure and there is a family history of stroke. From Chaplain Tim Hill:

I wanted to share with you an awesome story that unfolded yesterday at North Florida. We have recently created a Hospice Wing at our facility, and God is beginning to fill
those rooms with some wonderful people. We had the opportunity to compassioonately love and take care of one of those residents over the past five days. She was 37 years old and a Native American (Navajo). It was very evident yesterday that she would not make it through the day.

In the last hour of her life, I was invited into her room and was amzaed at the people surrounding her: Our SHC CNA’s and nurses; A Covenant Hospice representative and nurse; Our DON, and one of our ADON’s; our Wound Care Nurse; and our Social Services Assistant.

We recently went on an overnight trip to the beach at Cape San Blas! You can read more about our trip here: http://blogs.ltcrevolution.com/quality-of-life/

Mr. Howard Jones was selected by his peers for employee of the month for April.  He works as the transportation aide in the social services department.  Howard was very pleased to have been chosen for the employee of the month. Thank you, Mr. Howard, for all you do for the residents at Signature HealthCARE of North Florida!

Children in the Graceville community were invited to the 1st Annual Easter Egg Hunt at North Florida. Despite the rain, 1,000 eggs were hidden within the facility and the children frantically searched and got to visit with the Easter Bunny.
